Experimental design flag: Box B has 60% more aerator units per hectare than Box A (1.82 vs 1.18 units/ha) and 59% more HP per hectare (3.09 vs 1.94 HP/ha). When interpreting trial results, any improvement in Box B over Box A will be a combined effect of probiotics + better aeration, not probiotics alone. See Section 4.1 of the main plan for the recommended mitigation (Pathway A).

Panel box (Box A)IP65, 300 × 200 × 150 mm, polycarbonateHouses 4 × ELCB (30 mA, 25 A double-pole) + 1 main breaker. Sized for 4 future expansion slots.
Cable type — dike runsTHHN 3×3.5 mm² (12 AWG), wet-rated, in PVC conduitResists UV + salt spray. Conduit gives mechanical protection from rats/heron stakes/grass cutting.
Cable type — float dropIP68 marine cable, double-jacket, 3-core 2.5 mm²Last 30–50 m from dike edge to floating unit must survive full submersion if float capsizes.
Junction box on dikeIP66 outdoor, mounted on bamboo post 1.5 m above flood lineSplice point between THHN (dike) and marine cable (float). Must stay dry during high-tide events (1.03 m chart datum max).
Cable glandsPG16 weatherproof, brassSealed entry to panel + junction boxes — no exposed wire entries.
Conduit fastenerUV-stable nylon zip ties + bamboo stakes every 2 mNo metal — corrosion-free.
Earth grounding2 m copper rod, driven into dike soil at panelBonded to all metal pump bodies. ELCB will not function without earth ground.
Float anchorBamboo pole 3 m driven into pond bottom + 8 mm nylon ropeFloat adjusts to water level; rope has 1 m slack for ±90 cm tidal variation.
Aerator positioning logic (Box A): Each 1800W floating aerator covers a ~70 m radius of effective oxygenation in a semi-intensive pond. With 3 units spaced in a triangle pattern (NW, center, NE) and the venturi manifold on the south dike, every point of Box A is within 80 m of an active aerator. The water flow generated by F1+F2+F3 creates a clockwise circulation that pushes the venturi-injected oxygen from the south dike into the center where most fish congregate.

Map 2B — Box B Aerator Placement (Probiotic · 1.1 ha)

1 venturi pump + 1 floating aerator. Smaller pond, but flagged for additional aerator purchase before Cycle 2 (see Section 4.2 of main plan).

Aeration shortfall warning: Box B at 1.1 ha with only 2 aerator units = 3.09 HP/ha installed capacity. SEAFDEC intensive guidelines suggest 5+ HP/ha for biomass over 4,000 kg/ha. Box B's biomass at harvest will hit ~7,040 kg/ha (22,000 fish × 400g ÷ 1.1 ha) — which is 75% above the no-aeration ceiling and right at the limit of the current setup. Pre-dawn DO monitoring in Box B is mandatory from Day 60 onward. Reserve budget for 1 more 1800W floating aerator (~₱8,000) to add before Cycle 2.

Map 3 — Optimal Feeding Zones

Feeding zones placed UPSTREAM of aerator flow so feed pellets disperse over oxygenated water, not stagnant zones. Fish congregate near aerators — feed near (not on top of) them.

F1 F2 F3 V1 manifold FZ-A1 7:00 AM FZ-A2 7:00 AM + 3:00 PM FZ-A3 3:00 PM BOX A — 3 Feeding Zones Rotate zones between feedings · 7 AM = upcurrent of F1/F2 · 3 PM = downwind F4 FZ-B1 7:00 AM FZ-B2 3:00 PM BOX B — 2 Feeding Zones N Feeding Zone (FZ) — 20m radius, broadcast cast from dike or banca Aerator position (F1–F4)

Feeding Time Logic — Why These Zones

TimeDO stateZone choiceReason
4:00–6:00 AMDANGER — DO at daily minimum (2–4 mg/L)DO NOT FEEDAdding feed at low DO = ammonia spike + uneaten feed rotting in low-oxygen water. Wait for sunrise photosynthesis to lift DO above 5 mg/L.
7:00–8:00 AMRECOVERING — DO climbing past 5 mg/LFZ-A1 / FZ-A2 / FZ-B1 (upwind of aerators)Feed disperses across freshly oxygenated water; fish are hungriest after the overnight fast.
11:00 AMRISING — DO 6–8 mg/L (photosynthesis active)(skip — twice daily plan)Only feed if fish were observed under-eating in AM (sampling check).
3:00–4:00 PMPEAK — DO 8–12 mg/LFZ-A2 / FZ-A3 / FZ-B2 (rotate from AM zones)Highest DO of the day = best feed conversion. Rotating zone prevents fecal/feed buildup in any one spot.
6:00 PM onwardDECLINING — sunset reverses photosynthesisDO NOT FEEDNight respiration begins drawing DO down. Stop feeding at least 2 hours before sunset (~5 PM).
Box A coverage: 3 feeding zones across 3.4 ha = 1 zone per 1.13 ha. Rotation: 7 AM = FZ-A1 + FZ-A2; 3 PM = FZ-A2 + FZ-A3. FZ-A2 (center) feeds twice because that's where F2 keeps DO highest mid-day.

Box B coverage: 2 feeding zones across 1.1 ha = 1 zone per 0.55 ha. Each zone is fed once per day, alternating. Both zones are within 30 m of F4 to keep fish in well-oxygenated water during digestion.
Feeding execution rules (apply to both boxes):
  • Broadcast feed by hand from dike or small banca — never dump in one spot
  • Spread the daily ration across 15 minutes of slow broadcast — not 1 minute
  • Watch the water surface — if uneaten feed visible after 15 mins, reduce next feeding by 10%
  • Box B feed mix (probiotics): 12 cc Immunodefence Aqua + 1 kg dry pellet, mix fresh in plastic basin, use within 20 minutes (per UPLB instruction)
  • Box A feed: identical pellets, identical schedule — but NO probiotic additive (control condition)
